FOO Basic Course

Introduction

Flight Operation Officer Course is designed by PCAA/ICAO to cope up with flight operation’s exigencies / challenges being faced by cockpit crew. A person who is Flight Operations Officer must hold / possess knowledge in respect of Flight Planning and its dispatch, calculation of Fuel, Weight and Balance, to collect NOTAMs/en-route weather reports, and brief the Flight Captain / Cockpit Crew.

Therefore, the post of FOO has been made mandatory by ICAO/PCAA and all the airlines, charter operations and Medical Evacuation Companies are required to keep FOO qualified personnel for their round the clock operation.

Priviliges of FOO Licence

The holder of the Licence is authorised to act as Flight Operation Officer to serve in that capacity with responsibility for each area for which he meets the requirements specified in the Annex-6 (International Civil Aviation Organization) for the purpose of:

Assisting the Pilot-in-Command in Flight preparation and providing the relevant information required.

Assisting the Pilot-in-Command in preparing Flight Plans, approving and signing such plans and filing the Air Traffic Control Flight Plans with appropriate Air Traffic Control Centre.

Furnishing the Pilot-in-Command while enroute, by appropriate means information which may be necessary for the safe conduct of Flight.

In the event of an emergency initiating such procedures as may be outlined in the Operations Manual of the operator.

Coordinating between various departments of the company for efficient and safe Flight Operations.

Journey Through Course

Submit Registration Form with required documents and fee.

Appear in required test and interview.

Spend 22 weeks of studies at SAPS Aviation College.

Clear all the college exams and get certified to appear in CAA exams.

Pass all of CAA exams with min. 70% marks.

Spend three months of OJT at any CAA approved Flight Despatch Centre.

Pass your oral exam at CAA; and finally.

Get your CAA LICENCE and head for the Bright Future.

Eligibility Criteria

Capable of: Speaking, Reading, Writing and Understanding English Language.

Educational Qualification: Intermediate (Physics & Maths) or equivalent.

Spend 22 weeks of studies at SAPS Aviation College.

Age: Min. 18 years, No upper limit.

Boys & Girls both can join the course.
